Are drones allowed in Cameroon?
According to CCAA, drone use is allowed in Cameroon, subject to CCAA regulations. Read on for more details.
Here are the most important rules to know for flying a drone in Cameroon:
Your drone may not fly higher than 120 meters above ground in Cameroon.
In Cameroon, you must fly drones within your visual range. The drone’s maximum range from the pilot must not exceed 300 meters.
You must fly more than 5.5 kilometers from any airport. You are not allowed to fly closer.
Your copter must always maintain a lateral distance of at least 15 meters from the following objects: Structures such as buildings, vehicles, ships, animals, and people.
Do not fly your drone in areas with a high population density (such as markets or stadiums).
Drone flights are only permitted during daylight and under ideal weather conditions.
Commercial pilots must adhere to the regulations described above.
Additional Notes for Foreign Operators
If you’re traveling to Cameroon and intend to bring your drone, the CCAA recommends the following special considerations for foreigners flying drones:
To enter Cameroon with a drone, you must obtain a permit from the CCAA.
Each drone flight in Cameroon must be approved at least 30 days in advance.
To apply for a permit and flight approval from the CCAA, send an application to the following address: Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority / Base Aérienne 101 / BP: 6998 Yaounde
Once you submit your request (at least 30 days in advance), the aviation authority contacts the Ministry of Defense to verify that all requirements have been met before final approval.
